A document leaked online early Friday that appeared to reveal the winners for Sunday night’s 81st Academy Awards ceremony has been branded a fake by an Oscars spokesperson.
According to the list, Mickey Rourke would win Best Actor, Kate Winslet would at last get a Best Actress gong while the support awards would go to Heath Ledger and Amy Adams at the ceremony in Hollywood this Sunday night.
British film Slumdog Millionaire was alleged to be named Best Picture while Danny Boyle would take home the Best Director prize.
The document was believed to be authentic because it was signed by Academy President Sid Ganis.
However, an Oscar spokesperson has called the paper a “hoax” in a statement to E! News: “The Academy’s president is not advised of the winners in advance.”
“There are only two people there who will know the complete list of winners in advance of the envelopes being opened during the ceremony.”
